Yup. That's correct. I'm also a published novelist. I have written two books so far, Catharsis and Catalyst, and they are sidequels to each other. What's a "sidequel" you ask? Good question. It's a word that's been around forever...or since I made it up a moment ago. It refers to the fact that the two books are sequels to each other and can be read in either order. Catharsis was written first and Catalyst was second. Catalyst is the main adventure and Catharsis is the origin story. You can either begin with Catalyst and then use Catharsis to go back and fill in how the story got there, or you can begin with Catharsis and follow the story the whole way through. Both options work.
Both books center around the same main character, Catarina Perez, and follow her journey into darkness. Darkness you ask? Yup. I wrote a "horror / superhero" mashup story. I took my favorite bits of a horror story and smashed it into what I think a good superhero story should be. Essentially, Catarina is a girl who becomes a type of monster and decides to use her new abilities (super powers?) to make the world a better place before she accidentally destroys it.
My novels are a bit tough to categorize as they have elements of horror (she's a monster), super heroes (she fights evildoers) and action (I like "exciting" books, so that is what I made my own. Lots of butt-kicking by a tough chick!). But, there isn't really any romance in it. There's a reason, though. But...you'll have to read the story to figure it out.
The book covers above are links to Amazon.com where the paperback copy and ebook versions of my novel are sold. It is possible to buy my book in actual brick and mortar stores, but it is unlikely they will have it in stock. There are thousands of authors in the world, and it is just tough for them to keep all of our books stocked. They *can* order it, though, if you wish. Or you can go to Amazon.com. Both work. On Amazon the books cost about $11 for the paper version and $3 for the eversion. Or I have copies in my room for sale for $10. Plus they come with a free autograph. Either option is fine. Or you can check them out from our school library, but there's a waiting list for them. There always is. That happens when you write pure awesomeness.
Below the book covers, I have sample sections of the books. I have the first 75 pages or so of each book in a downloadable pdf that should be readable in any ereader or computer. That way you can read the beginning of the book and see if you like it. If I get you hooked, then go for the full book. If you don't like it, then you don't waste any money. I figure it's a win-win!
I will put a synopsis of each book down below to give you an idea of what they are about.

CATHARSIS -
Every villain is the HERO of their own story...
Fifteen-year old Catarina Perez wakes up in one of the city’s alleys covered in blood and lying next to the corpse of a man she has never met before. And it turns out that isn’t the strangest thing she’s going to go through this night. Within hours of waking up, her body begins to develop superhuman abilities that cause her to become faster, stronger and more agile than any person she’s ever met.
But the use of these new powers brings with them a horrifying handicap: an uncontrollable desire to feast on the sweet, red nectar that is the life force of other humans. The more she uses her powers, the greater her desire to attack people.
With her moral beliefs telling her that suicide is the greater sin, she tries to make peace with her need to feed on humans as a way of sustaining herself. Determined to see her affliction as a blessing and not a curse, Catarina begins to systematically hunt down the city’s drug dealers. If she has to feed, then it should be from those who deserve it most.
With the hope of meeting a glorious death in battle and having her curse end, she instead becomes more powerful with each dealer she destroys. But power corrupts, and for Catarina, absolute power is bound to get somebody killed.
CATALYST -
A year ago, Catarina Perez woke up in an alley covered in blood and lying only a few feet away from the corpse of a man she had never met before. And that was only the beginning of a very bad day.
Since that terrifying night, Catarina has been living in an abandoned warehouse trying to accept what has happened to her: she has been infected with a strange and ancient disease. A disease that gives her an insatiable urge to drink the blood of other humans. But there are also benefits to her infection: superhuman strength, speed and senses beyond her wildest dreams.
Embracing her situation, Catarina begins using her abilities to hunt down the most evil people in the city: the drug kingpins. If she has to feed on others in order to survive, then only the most deserving of her vengeance will become victims.
With the help of her friend, Ren, Catarina starts dismantling the city’s powerful drug cartels one house at a time. But every dealer she removes from the street makes her disease stronger. And harder to control. Cat’s disease, her Hunger, just wants to nudge what remains of her tortured soul into the liberating embrace of the evil Darkness.
And sometimes you have to embrace the evil in your life in order to accomplish the greater good.
